Girl, 13, says man tried to lure her

The Spokesman-Review

Spokane Valley police are looking for information about a man who tried to lure a 13-year-old girl into his car while exposing and fondling himself Tuesday morning.

The Evergreen Middle School eighth-grader told police she was walking to a home in the 1100 block of South Century about 7:25 a.m. when she was approached by a man driving an older, blue two-door sedan. She described him as white, in his 30s, with short light brown hair. He was wearing a white shirt and blue jeans.

The girl ran to a nearby house where an adult called police. Anyone with information is asked to call (509) 242-TIPS.

Valley man dies after hit by car

A 39-year-old Spokane Valley man hit by a car Monday has died, officials said Tuesday.

Brock A. Ness was crossing Broadway at Vercler in the middle of the block to get his mail about 4:50 p.m., Sheriff’s Office traffic investigators said. The area is not well lit, and Ness was hit by a westbound 2001 Lexus driven by 36-year-old Kimberly Williams.

Investigation into the collision is ongoing, Spokane County sheriff’s Detective Don Manning said Tuesday.

Endicott, Wash.

Toddler killed in one-car crash

A 3-year-old child was killed Tuesday in a one-car, weather-related accident in Whitman County.

Sheriff Brett Myers said Mylze I. Taylor died when a woman driving a 1988 Ford minivan apparently lost control of the vehicle on icy Endicott Road about 8 a.m. The eastbound minivan appeared to have rolled once after leaving the road about four miles east of Endicott, Myers said.

The sheriff didn’t identify the driver or three other passengers in the vehicle. He said two other children and a man suffered minor injuries, but he released no information on the driver’s condition.

Myers said preliminary findings were that everyone in the vehicle had been using seat belts, but Mylze unbuckled his belt to get something off the floor just before the crash occurred.
