Key to the case: How closely are two Colville corporations linked to the tribe? The plaintiff argued that it’s one thing to protect a tribe but another to protect its for-profit corporations. The tribe said the corporations provide critical revenue for its government. If a lawsuit hurts the companies, they said, it hurts the tribes.
