Stewart Cink and J.J. Henry face a big weekend challenge if they’re to claim the 24th World Cup title for the United States. The American duo shot a 2-over-par 73 in St. James, Barbados, Friday, falling to 3 under for the tournament, eight shots behind Argentina’s team of Andres Romero and Angel Cabrera.

The U.S. capped the foursomes, or alternate shot, round by making four bogeys in the final seven holes, including consecutive ones on Nos. 17 and 18.

Racing

Biffle banged up

Greg Biffle dislocated his right shoulder in a fiery accident at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and was unable to attend the Busch Series banquet in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

Biffle was injured Thursday during a tire test for Goodyear in Las Vegas. He blew a tire, causing him to hit the wall between the first and second turns. The accident broke the fuel pump and caused his Ford to burst into flames.

•Marco Andretti, the Indy Racing League’s rookie of the year and runner-up in the Indianapolis 500, will test a Formula One car next week in Spain.

The 19-year-old son of Michael Andretti and grandson of Mario Andretti still plans to drive for his father’s Andretti Green Racing team in the IRL next season, he said.

Soccer

Bradley in for now

As the new U.S. soccer coach, Bob Bradley is on equal footing with the big-time European managers in at least one respect.

He could lose his job as quickly as he got it.

Bradley was given the job on an interim basis, one day after Juergen Klinsmann withdrew from consideration. Bradley was told he might be gone by May – before the Americans even play their next official game.

• ESPN and ABC will televise soccer’s 2008 European Championship under an agreement announced by the Union of European Football Associations.

Lobos triumph

Julie Briody scored 15 points and helped No. 23 New Mexico (7-2) score 14 straight points in the first half en route to a 77-41 victory over Sam Houston State (3-5) in Albuquerque, N.M.

Bids in for 2014 Games

Pyeongchang, Salzburg, and Sochi made a major pitch to European Olympic officials in Brussels, Belgium, who will help decide the host city for the 2014 Winter Games.

•British fighters Audley Harrison and Danny Williams got into a brawl at the weigh-in for their heavyweight rematch.

Harrison and Williams will fight tonight at London’s ExCel Arena.

•Driver Shauna Rohbock and brakeman Valerie Fleming won a World Cup women’s bobsled race for the second straight week, setting a track record at Utah Olympic Park in Park City, Utah.
