Colorful Creations
Kids from all around the region shared their creativity in this year’s Thanksgiving coloring contest.
We received 279 entries this year: 35 from kids under 4, 148 from kids age 5 to 7, and 96 from kids ages 8 to 10. Entry forms were published in the Thanksgiving Day issue of The Spokesman-Review.
The winners were selected by a panel of volunteer judges from The Spokesman-Review’s design team.
First place in the under-4 division went to Cameron Mason of Coeur d’Alene, whose entry was notable for its generous use of red shades and a bricolage of beads and green feather.
Pullman’s Quinn Roche, winner in the 5-to-7 category, opted for a more minimalist approach, bringing the negative space alive with sweeping line strokes and glitter.
And Ty Lahue of Nine Mile Falls, who won the 8-to-10 age group, used a photo collage technique to create a tribute to his family, with a special guest appearance by Frosty the Snowman.
The winners will each receive a gift certificate to Mobius Kids, and all of the entries will be on display there through the holidays. Mobius Kids is on the lower level of River Park Square in downtown Spokane.
Watch for our next coloring contest, coming up this Valentine’s Day.
