Kootenai opened a 13-point lead after three quarters, then weathered a Timberlake charge in the fourth for a 46-42 non-league girls road win Monday in Spirit Lake.

Hannah Nyrop had 16 points and Cassie Scheffelmaier 15 to lead the Warriors (6-0). Stella Walker, who hit the game’s only 3, led Timberlake (2-7) with 16 points.

The game had been scheduled as the season opener, but was postponed because the Kootenai coach was still working with football.
