Achievements: Shannon Yellin graduates from Air National Guard Academy
“Shannon Yellin recently graduated from the Air National Guard Academy of Military Science at McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base, Tenn., and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Air National Guard. Yellin is a logistics rediness officer assigned to the 141st Logistics Readiness Squadron at Fairchild Air Force Base.
Yellin, a 2000 graduate of Lewis and Clark High School, holds a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Washington University. She is the daughter of Michael and Colleen Yellin of Spokane.

Army Pfc. Theodore Hill, a 2006 graduate of Lewis and Clark High School, is the son of Michael Hill of Lynnwood, Wash., and Debbie Lentz of Spokane.
Army Pvt. Jake Brazington, a 2006 graduate of Lake City High School, is the son of Clayton Brazington of Valley, Wash., and Chris Tuttle of Coeur d’Alene.

Air Force Airman Sean Hjortedal, a 2005 graduate of Central Valley High School, is the son of Don Hjortedal of Veradale.
Air Force Airman Heidi Kiesz, the daughter of Michael and Gail Kiesz of Odessa, Wash., is a 2003 graduate of Odessa High School.
Air Force Airman James Shelby, the son of Sherri Shelby of Spokane, is a 2002 graduate of Mead High School and a 2005 graduate of Spokane Community College.
Air Force Airman Domingo Valenzuela, a 2005 graduate of Moses Lake High School, is the son of Mingo and Mary Valenzuela of Moses Lake.
“ Marine Corps Pvt. Joseph Stone recently graduated from basic training at the Marine Corps Recruiting Department, San Diego. Stone, a 2006 graduate of Colville High School, is the son of Essie Crowder of Newport, Wash., and Robert Stone of Colville.
“Gonzaga University recently announced this year’s recipients of the Mary Stuart Rodgers Scholarships. The awards are given to full-time juniors, seniors and upper division education students who are committed to community service, have financial need and hold a grade-point average of at least 3.0. The scholarships are renewable.
This year’s recipients include Christelle Gorman of Spokane and Jennie Nash of Republic, Wash. Students whose scholarships were renewed include Susanne Nicholas and Christopher Wheatley, both of Spokane.
“Nicole Scheer of Pullman was recently honored at the annual Susquehanna University Scholars Dinner. The recognition comes from maintaining a grade-point average of 3.75 or above for two semesters. Scheer, a 2004 graduate of Pullman High School, is the daughter of Karen and Gary Scheer.
The University of Idaho Alumni Association recently awarded 60 undergraduate, graduate and law students with awards for excellence based on their academic success and community involvement. Recipients are listed by their hometowns.
