Cowgirls top Vandals at Montana Classic

Katie Madison had a team-high 21 points and six rebounds, but Idaho fell to Wyoming 68-45 Thursday at the Montana women’s basketball Holiday Classic in Missoula.

Jodi Bolerjack led the Cowgirls with 23 points and Justyna Podziemska added 13 points, six rebounds and six assists.

Wyoming (9-2) shot 14 of 27 from the floor in the second half and outscored the Vandals 32-18.

Idaho (3-7) will meet Canisius (7-5) at 4 p.m. today.

“Cassie Pilkinton scored 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds, leading North Idaho to a 58-35 win over host Wenatchee Valley.

The Cardinals limited the Knights to just seven field goals in the first half, outscoring Wenatchee Valley 30-15.

Jessica Thielen scored 10 points and Kay Hill chipped in eight points and nine boards.

Boys basketball

Nate Bligh scored 27 points, including five 3-pointers, but it wasn’t enough as Bismarck (N.D.) topped the Coeur d’Alene Vikings 79-72 at the Energy Classic Tournament in Gillette, Wyo.

Luke Martinez and Jordan Willhelm scored 21 points apiece for Bismarck and Ben Peterson added 20.

Coeur d’Alene (5-2) will play the loser between Seaholm and Campbell today at 11 a.m.

Ty Stoddard’s 24 points weren’t enough for Lake City as the Timberwolves fell to Moses Lake 72-62 in a non-league game. Stoddard added five rebounds and four assists for Lake City (5-3), which couldn’t recover after falling behind 42-29 at halftime.

Myles Borth scored 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, leading Lind-Ritzville (5-4) to a 70-26 non-league win over LaCrosse-Washtucna (3-5) in Ritzville.

Girls basketball

Katie Baker scored 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, leading Lake City to a 45-39 comeback win over Skyview at the Enumclaw (Wash.) tournament. The Timberwolves outscored Skyview 15-4 in the fourth quarter to erase a seven-point halftime deficit. Lake City (9-2) will play Enumclaw today for the championship.

Jessica Kielpshski scored 26 points on 10-of-14 shooting as Mandan (N.D.) beat Coeur d’Alene 64-41 at the Energy Classic Tournament in Gillette, Wyo. Lindsey Stark scored 12 points to lead the Vikings (10-1), who will play Crescent Valley today.

Cami Bullock scored 21 points and Shawn Hennessey added 15 as Liberty topped Bonners Ferry in the opening round of the Freeman tournament. The Lancers outscored the Badgers 18-11 in the fourth quarter to erase a three-point third-quarter deficit. Camille Robertson scored 15 points to lead Bonners Ferry (6-5). Liberty (8-0) will play Freeman (7-2) today at 6 p.m.
