Elvis stamp king with collectors

Washington Post The Spokesman-Review

In the world of stamp collecting, Elvis is still the king.

A 1993 U.S. postage stamp with the likeness of rock-and-roll legend Elvis Presley continues to be the No. 1 hit with U.S. stamp collectors. More than 124 million Elvis stamps were saved as souvenirs and never used, the U.S. Postal Service said this week in releasing its annual rankings. That’s almost one-fourth of the 500 million Elvis stamps that were printed.

The second-most-collected release is the Wonders of America series, which was issued this year. The rankings are based on surveys asking people about the stamps they’ve used or saved.
