In brief: Three arrested after chase

The Spokesman-Review

Spokane police arrested three Spokane residents Friday after a brief pursuit through a northwest Spokane neighborhood.

Sgt. Jason Reynolds attempted to stop a car for a traffic violation at Jefferson Street and York Avenue about 11:20 a.m., when the driver failed to stop and led Reynolds on a low-speed pursuit for about eight-blocks. The car finally stopped in the 1000 block of West Euclid, said Cpl. Tom Lee, police spokesman.

A passenger in the car, Ryan Patrick Graham, ran away but was caught after a three-block pursuit, Lee said. Graham, a 33-year-old criminal known to law enforcement, was arrested on five outstanding warrants and on suspicion of felony possession of methamphetamine, Lee said.

The driver, Ashley D. Fry, 20, was arrested on suspicion of attempting to elude police.

A second woman who came out of a nearby apartment and attempted to interfere with Fry’s arrest was also arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault. Tatiana M. Uphoff, 27, tried to hit and kick Sgt. Reynolds during the arrest, Lee said.

Former deputy arrested again

A former Spokane County sheriff’s deputy who nearly killed a patrol sergeant in a head-on crash in 2002 was arrested again Friday on suspicion of failing a urine test.

James Lee Crabtree, 45, was convicted of vehicular assault in 2002 after he crossed the centerline on Bigelow Gulch Road and hit a patrol car driven by sheriff’s Sgt. Earl Howerton. After the crash, authorities discovered cocaine in Crabtree’s vehicle.

This October, Crabtree sideswiped another car on North Market and was arrested again, this time on suspicion of driving under the influence. He was required to take a urinalysis test as part of his sentencing, said sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Dave Reagan.

On Friday a warrant was issued for his arrest for failure to comply, after it as discovered that he failed the urinalysis test.

He was arrested at his home on Barker Road in Spokane Valley. The warrant carried a $150,000 bond.

Man wanted on three warrants

Secret Witness is offering a reward for information that leads to the arrest of a Spokane man wanted on multiple warrants.

Dustin C. Rauscher, 22, is wanted on warrants for first-degree possession of stolen property, third-degree driving with a suspended license and reckless driving, said Spokane police Cpl. Tom Lee.

Rauscher is described as 5 feet 5 inches tall and 160 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes, Lee said.
