Eagles, Herremans sign deal
PHILADELPHIA – The Eagles signed Todd Herremans to a five-year extension Saturday, a deal that would run through the 2013 season.
“It means a lot to me to have a sense of comfort,” he said. “I’m going to be here for a while now.”
The 24-year-old Herremans made a smooth transition to left guard this year, starting all 15 games and helping the Eagles offense rank second among NFL teams in yards per game (380.7) and sixth in points (24.9).
As a rookie in 2005, Herremans started four games at left tackle for the injured William Thomas.
Herremans, a fourth round draft choice of Philadelphia in 2005, was the eighth Eagles player to sign a long-term extension in the past six months.
Earlier this year, the Eagles extended wide receiver Reggie Brown, defensive end Trent Cole, defensive tackle Mike Patterson, guard Shawn Andrews, center Jamaal Jackson and safety Brian Dawkins.
“It says a lot about the organization and how they like to build for the future,” Herremans said.
