Cataldo celebrates Catholic education
This is National Catholic Schools Week, held annually to honor all involved with Catholic education around the country. This year’s theme is “Catholic Schools: Character, Compassion, Values.”
Cataldo Catholic School, 455 W. 18th Ave. has several events planned as part of this week’s celebration.
Today is Family Appreciation Day with a special Mass celebrated, and the seventh-grade class will host Family Bingo Night and a food drive at the school.
Friday is the Cataldo Spirit and Student Appreciation Day planned by the student council. A dance-a-thon for food for Second Harvest Food Bank will be held all day.
Students also will make appreciation cards for neighbors of the school; sponsor a puppy and kitten food drive for the Humane Society; collect supplies for St. Margaret’s Shelter; clean St. Augustine’s Church; and make Valentine’s Day cards for residents of Cooper George Retirement Community and the Jesuit House.
NWC preview night
Parents and students who would like to know more about Northwest Christian Schools are invited to Academic Preview Night events at both the elementary school and middle/high school campuses.
Academic Preview Night for prospective middle and high school students and their families is 7 p.m. Monday at the Colbert campus, 5104 E. Bernhill Road.
NWC students and parents will give presentations about their experience at the school, and prospective families can meet teachers and take a tour of the schools.

Families with students preschool to sixth grade may attend Academic Preview Night at 7 p.m. next Thursday at the elementary school campus, 1412 W. Central Ave.
There will be classroom displays, tours of the campus and the opportunity to meet teachers and staff members. Call 328-4400 for more information.
Artist at St. George’s
Amy Tessier will exhibit her works “Figurative Paintings and Sculpture” today through Feb. 13 in the Upper School’s Art Gallery, 2929 W. Waikiki Road. An artist’s reception is planned for noon Friday at the gallery.
Tessier is a 1979 graduate of St. George’s and resident of Park City, Utah. She has exhibited works at the Sandpoint ArtWalk as well as at galleries in Utah and Colorado.
