Currency table is back

The Spokesman-Review

Readers once again can find foreign currency exchange rates in the daily business pages.

That table was dropped with the redesign of our stock listings. So many people called to request it be reinstated, however, that we found a new home for it. From now on, you’ll find the currency exchange rates inside the stock market wrap-up, called “Market Report.” That story typically is found on the second page of the Business section.

Exchange rates also continue to be listed in the Your Money section in Sunday Business.

Poultry feed recalled

Nearly 500 bags of poultry feed manufactured at Purina Mills LLC’s plant in Spokane are being voluntarily recalled by the company because the feed contains too much salt.

The feed is sold under the name Purina Layena Sunfresh Recipe Pellets, the company said in a press release. Only bags printed on the sewing strip with the lot number 6JAN03SPK2 are involved in the recall.

The 50-pound bags in that lot were shipped to 15 retail dealers in Idaho, Montana, Washington and Oregon.

A Purina spokesman in Spokane declined to give further information on the recall.

Atlas wins tunnel deal

Atlas Mining Co. has received a contract to drill a new tunnel into at the Sunshine Mine near Kellogg, Idaho, the company reported this week.

The tunnel will be about 5,700 feet in length, and will take about 15 months to complete. Atlas expects to earn about $2.8 million on the project, officials said. Atlas, which has a contract mining division, recently completed a project in Alaska.
