Today

Together again

Many baby boomers and their children have fond memories of the classic Frog and Toad book series. A great way to introduce the newest generation to the longtime pals is a preview of the upcoming Christian Youth Theater production titled “A Year with Frog and Toad.”

Actors from CYT will perform their preview at 11 a.m. today at Barnes & Noble, 15310 E. Indiana Ave. Bring the kids for a taste of the story and if they’re captivated by it, there will probably be a few copies of Frog and Toad books in the store’s children’s section.

Valentine workshop

For moms in dire need of a napkin holder made with love, wood and a little glue there’s a special Valentine’s Day workshop sponsored by the Home Depot. The monthly events are designed to teach children tool safety and a little about making something with their own hands. This month’s project is a napkin holder.

The free workshop is for children ages 5-12 who are accompanied by a parent. It will be from 9 a.m. to noon today at the store at 5617 E. Sprague Ave.

Sunday

Walk around the block

Join the Hobnailers hiking group as they go on a six-mile trek of the Edgecliff neighborhood beginning at 9 a.m. Sunday. The group includes members of all ages and they usually gather two or three times a week in all kinds of weather for a hike.

Those interested in joining the walk should meet at 9 a.m. at Edgecliff Park at Eighth Ave. and Park Road. Walkers of all speeds are welcome. A group of slow walkers will walk between two and four miles while the speedier walkers tackle the full route. Membership dues are $20 per year but nonmembers are welcome to participate. Call 534-1100 for more information.
