Outdoor Pursuits plans telemark skiing clinic

The Spokesman-Review

Learn the art of telemark skiing during a ski clinic presented by North Idaho College’s Outdoor Pursuits program on Feb. 25.

Telemark is a type of turn first developed in the Telemark region of Norway. Telemark skiing allows a stable and controlled turn on skis when heels are not attached.

The clinic is accompanied by a class session.

The class session held in conjunction with the Feb. 25 clinic will be held at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 22 with limited instruction and the showing of a demonstration video. The class will be held in the Outdoor Pursuits Office, on the lower level of NIC’s Edminster Student Union Building.

The hands-on clinic will be held at Lookout Pass and will walk participants through the telemark turn, so only those with previous skiing or snowboarding experience should sign up.

Cost is $30 per participant, which includes lift tickets, transportation and equipment.

Call Outdoor Pursuits at (208) 769-7809 for more information or to sign up.
