Cake kit sales benefit hurricane relief

Knight Ridder Newspapers The Spokesman-Review

King Arthur Flour will give a portion of the proceeds made from its King’s cake kits sold through Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday, Feb. 28, to the Salvation Army for hurricane relief.

The kit includes a sweet-dough mix, almond paste for the filling, a sugar glaze and 4-ounce bags of yellow, green and purple decorating sugars – traditional colors for Mardi Gras celebrations. Cost is $18.95 per kit or $17.95 each for two or more.

The cakes can be made and eaten as part of Mardi Gras meals, when many area churches also hold pancake suppers.

To order a kit, call (800) 827-6836.
