Tech firm moves into SIRTI
Spokane-based Innovation Computing, a two-person technology company, has moved into the Spokane Intercollegiate Research and Technology Institute (SIRTI) as a tenant.
Launched in 2002, the company is using SIRTI business specialists to sharpen its business plan, said Innovation Computing President Wil Buchanan.
Buchanan started the company while he working as a networking specialist for ESD101. Innovation Computing started in his home and now needs a full office to grow, he said.
About 80 percent of his company’s work involves managing technology for rural school districts; the rest involves similar work for dental clinics. Buchanan said his focus now is to make those two areas roughly equal.
“Dental offices have largely turned paperless,” he said, creating a consistent need for technology service and management. “We’re a turn-key solution” providing the hardware, setting it up for the offices and ensuring that it works correctly, Buchanan said.
SIRTI offers a variety of services for small firms, including developing business plans, said John Overby, the state agency’s incubator manager.
