Energized Gophers knock off Michigan State
Vince Grier had 15 points and eight rebounds, leading energized Minnesota to a 69-55 upset over No. 12 Michigan State on Saturday in Minneapolis.
Zach Puchtel scored 13 points, J’son Stamper added 12 and Adam Boone and Moe Hargrow each had 10 for the Gophers, who have won three of four since shuffling their lineup.
Shannon Brown scored 17 of his 19 points after halftime and Paul Davis had 17 points for the Spartans, who were outscored 22-6 over the final 6 1/2 minutes. They went 6 minutes without a field goal down the stretch, until Brown’s layup with 46 seconds left cut the lead to 65-55.

Purdue 84, (22) Michigan 70: At West Lafayette, Ind., reserve freshman Marcus Green scored 18 points in the first half as the Boilermakers handed the Wolverines their third straight loss.
Missouri State 66, (25) Northern Iowa 62: At Cedar Falls, Iowa, Nathan Bilyeu scored 19 points and Dale Lamberth added 12 to help the Bears upset the Panthers.
