Locally trained dogs go to show
A Chihuahua and a Boston terrier trained in Deer Park, Wash., may get some “hair time” during tonight’s telecast of the 130th annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show (USA, 8 p.m.). First, they’ll have to win their breed categories.
The dogs will be shown by Chris Wheeler, who has been training dogs for 34 years. Wheeler said this will be her fourth trip to the Westminster show, which features about 2,500 dogs.
Willy, a 2-year-old Chihuahua, lives in Japan but is trained in Deer Park.
He will compete against 17 other Chihuahuas, which weigh less than 6 pounds.
Marty, Wheeler’s 11/2-year-old terrier, will compete against 24 others.
