MINNEAPOLIS – Ricky Davis scored 25 points and Kevin Garnett added 23 points and 15 rebounds, pushing the Minnesota Timberwolves past the Seattle SuperSonics 102-92 on Wednesday night to end a four-game losing streak – all at home.

Trenton Hassell chipped in 12 points, and Anthony Carter and Rashad McCants each scored 10, giving the Wolves only their second win in their last nine games.

Ray Allen scored 23 points for the Sonics, who lost for the seventh time in eight games, but he didn’t attempt a free throw. Rashad Lewis was held to eight points on 1-for-7 shooting, drawing a technical with 4:28 remaining after slamming the ball down in disgust over an offensive foul called on him in the lane.

Minnesota had a chance to take some much-needed momentum into the All-Star break with this five-game homestand, but all that could be salvaged was one victory over scuffling Seattle.

Still, it was clearly the Wolves’ night for once. Marcus Banks missed a wide-open reverse dunk, but got his rebound and made the layup over two defenders before the bench could get too angry with him. That gave Minnesota its biggest lead, 90-77 with 6:44 left.

After winning 52 games and making the playoffs last season as the Northwest Division champions, Seattle (20-33) has slumped badly. With the trade deadline looming next week, more moves could be made.
