David Bell-Garrison, Drew Brittain reach Eagle rank

Two local residents recently received the Eagle Scout awards, the highest award given in the Boy Scouts.

David Bell-Garrison of Spokane, a member of Troop 313, is a senior at Lewis and Clark High School. For his project, Bell-Garrison created a self-filling wildlife watering trough near Davenport,Wash.

Drew Brittain, off Nine Mile Falls and Troop 19, built two steel bike racks for Lake Spokane Elementary School for his project. Brittain, a junior at Lakeside High School, is the son of Richard and Debra Brittain, Nine Mile Falls.

“ Several local Navy cadets were recognized recently at the Fort Spokane Battalion U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps awards banquet. The honorees are listed with their awards:

John Walsh of Spokane received an Executive Officers Award.

Jessica Clow, Spokane, is the Commanding Officers Award recipient.

Sid Morris of Harrington, Wash., received the Cadet of the Year, Navy League and the DAR ROTC awards.

Eric Clow, Veterans of Foreign Wars Outstanding Achievement and the Sons of the American Revolution Bronze Good Citizenship awards.

“ James Flowers of Reardan, Wash., was recently named to the fall honor roll at MidAmerica Nazarene University, Kansas. Students must hold a grade-point average between 3.2 and 3.49 for inclusion on the list.

Breanne Rolando of Spokane were recently named to the fall President’s List at Gonzaga University.

Students must earn a grade-point average of 3.7 or higher to be named to the list.

Laura Curryer, Spokane, also was named to the fall President’s List at Gonzaga.

Curryer, a 2003 graduate of Rogers High School, is the daughter of Steve and Kathy Curryer of Spokane.

“ Aaron Wham of Elk has been named to the fall dean’s list at DePauw University, Greencastle, Ind. Students must hold a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher.

“ Shaun Greer of Nine Mile Falls was recently named to the fall dean’s list at Gonzaga University. Students must earn a grade-point average between 3.5 and 3.69 to be named to the list. Greer, a 2005 graduate of Lakeside High School, is the son of Sam and Denise Greer of Nine Mile Falls.

“ Three local residents recently graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.

Airman Dustin Jenne, an honor graduate, is a 2005 graduate of Medical Lake High School.

Airman Cliff Cooke, a 2005 graduate of Medical Lake High School, is the son of Mark and Jit Cooke of Fairchild Air Force Base.

Airman Daniel Caudel, a 2004 graduate of Cheney High School, is the son of Kim Caudel of Medical Lake and Joyce Caudel of Cheney.

“ Central Valley High School senior Oliver Walters recently won the Spokane Jazz Society’s High School Jazz Solo Competition. Alto saxophonist Walters will be performing with the Jazz Society at its upcoming concert on March 11 at the Met. He is a member of the All-City Jazz Band, the Spokane Falls Community College Jazz Ensemble and Secondary Sense.

“ Sarah Gospodnetich of Coeur d’Alene was recently named to the fall dean’s ist at Ohio Wesleyan University. Students must earn a grade-point average of 3.5 or better to be named to the list.

A graduate of Cushing Academy, Gospodnetich is the daughter of Gerald and Cristina Gospodnetich.

“ Emily Ruskovich of Blanchard was recently named to the fall dean’s list at the University of Montana. Students must hold a grade-point average of 3.5 or above.
