Rev. Moses Berry to speak at Christ the Savior

Christ the Savior Orthodox Church is bringing a special guest to Spokane Valley this week. The Rev. Moses Berry is the curator of the Afro-American Heritage Museum in Missouri and claims among his ancestors Daniel Boone and Wallace White, the only black man in Company D, 6th Missouri Union Cavalry.

Moses will be speaking on “Back to the Future: An African American Journey to the Ancient Church” at the church at 4 p.m. Feb. 26. The talk will be preceded by a display of slavery artifacts and photographs from 2 to 4 p.m.

There is no charge for the events and the public is welcome. The church is at 12407 E. 16th Ave. Call 891-7632 for more information.

Carnival

The Veradale United Church of Christ will host a carnival today from 3 to 7 p.m. There will be carnival games, face painting, bake sale, cake walk and more. Admission is $1 or a nonperishable item for the Valley Food Bank. The church’s youth are putting on the event to raise money for an upcoming mission trip.

The church is at 611 N. Progress Road.

Organ concert

Organist John Bodinger is the latest musician to participate in the Music at Millwood concert series at Millwood Presbyterian Church. Bodinger will perform at 4 p.m. Sunday at the church, 3223 N. Marguerite Road. Admission is free.

Financial seminar

A representative from Crown Financial Ministries will present a financial freedom seminar based on Biblical principles from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 26 at Spokane Valley Adventist Church, 1601 S. Sullivan Road. The cost is $20 per person and reservations must by made by Thursday. Call 926-5866 to register or for more information.
