Tar Heels fend off Hokies
Ivory Latta scored 26 points and Camille Little had seven of her 16 in an early second-half run Friday night as No. 3 North Carolina broke open a close game and coasted to an 84-75 victory over Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va.
Latta hit four 3-pointers and had five assists for the Tar Heels (24-1, 11-1).
Dawn Chriss led Virginia Tech (17-7, 4-7 ACC) with 18 points, while Kirby Copeland added 16 points and Kerri Gardin had 11 points and eight rebounds. The Hokies shot just 39 percent and were 0 for 6 on 3-pointers. North Carolina was 7 for 17.
