Hawk’s double-double leads Gonzaga
Gonzaga’s basketball team remained one game out of first place in the West Coast Conference after earning a 55-38 Senior Night win over Pepperdine Saturday at The Kennel.
Stephanie Hawk had a game-high 18 points and Ashley Anderson scored 14 for the Bulldogs (14-13, 9-3), who climbed above .500 for the first time this season. Hawk added a game-high 12 rebounds, and Anderson also collected a double-double, finishing with 10 rebounds.
Pepperdine (10-15, 7-5) was led by the eight points and 11 rebounds of Teiosha George.
•Kate Benz tallied her second consecutive double-double, wracking up 17 points and 12 rebounds as Washington State beat Oregon 68-53 in Pac-10 action in Pullman.
Seniors Crystal Blue (17 points) and Keisha Moore (12 points) finished their home Cougar careers in style as WSU (8-17, 2-14) outrebounded the Ducks (14-12, 5-11) 49-20, 20 of which were offensive rebounds.
•Natalie Doma had 22 points and seven rebounds, and Andrea Lightfoot added 21 points and five assists as Idaho State survived five Eagles in double-figure scoring in a 74-65 win over Eastern Washington in Big Sky action in Cheney.
Brittney Osborn and Leah Gonnella each had a team-high 11 points, and Jamie Chicane, Felice Moore and Julie Page each added 10 points for the Eagles (10-13, 4-6).
Joanna Hixon added 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Jeni Boesel had 13 points and seven assists for the Bengals (14-11, 8-3).
•DeeDee Arnall had game highs of 32 points and 11 rebounds as Pacific (8-17, 3-13 Northwest Conference) held Whitworth (13-11, 7-9) to 31 percent shooting in the second half en route to a 69-66 victory in Forest Grove, Ore.
Holly Ridings had 21 points for the Pirates.
•Emily Wittkopf grabbed 19 points and seven rebounds as Community Colleges of Spokane (16-9, 6-4) beat Treasure Valley (4-20, 1-10) 70-65 in overtime in Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges action in Ontario, Ore.
•Kristen O’Neill scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds as Washington (18-7, 11-5 Pac-10) beat Oregon State (12-12, 6-10) 66-51 in Seattle.
Kim Butler had 20 points to lead the Beavers.
•Idaho tied a season-high with 22 turnovers and had a season-low in points in a 49-43 loss to Nevada in Western Athletic Conference action in Reno, Nev.
The Vandals (8-15, 4-8) have lost seven of their last eight and shot just 15 of 44 from the floor, hitting a season-low 14 percent from behind the 3-point arc.
Nevada (11-14, 7-6) was led by the 15 points, nine rebounds and five steals of Jessica Preslar.
