OUTFITTER

The BB king

Daisy Outdoor Products, America’s oldest and largest marketer of airguns and airgun accessories is celebrating a big anniversary.

The company traces its roots to the Plymouth Iron Windmill Company of Plymouth, Mich. The first steel airgun was given as a premium item to farmers who bought the steel windmills. Demand for the windmills faded after a few years, but the little airgun was a success.

In describing the airgun, then company president E.C. Hough said, “It’s a Daisy.” That became the name of the gun — and the name of the company that’s built it for 120 years.
