Coat Factory smoke may have been pump

Firefighters flocked to the former downtown Burlington Coat Factory building about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday when passers-by spotted smoke coming through the floor of the open loading dock area.

No fire was found, and an overheated hydraulic pump was suspected, firefighters said. The incident was under investigation.

The West Main building is being renovated for condominiums.
