Tools taken from construction trailer

The Spokesman-Review

Spokane County Sheriff’s officers appealed Tuesday for information in the weekend theft of hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of tools from a Goebel Construction supply trailer.

The trailer was parked in the 6200 block of East Valley-Chapel Road. The stolen items included propane and electric heaters, a David White brand guilder’s level, a Makita roto-hammer and a Makita chipping hammer.

Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to call 242-TIPS.

Witnesses to fatal crash sought

The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office wants to hear from anyone who might have witnessed a crash between a car or truck and a bicycle Friday night that claimed the life of a 22-year-old Spokane Valley man.

David J. Morris was found on the ground at Freya and Lyons Avenue about 10:40 p.m. Friday night. His bicycle was lying nearby and deputies at first assumed that he had fallen from the bike and injured himself.

Morris was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injures to his head, but he died Saturday morning. A Monday autopsy revealed that Morris’ injuries were consistent with having been hit by a vehicle, said Cpl. Dave Reagan, sheriff’s spokesman.

Detective Ken Salas said Tuesday that the collision would have been on Lyons east of Freya Street and may have occurred before 10:40 p.m. Friday night.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is encouraged to call Salas at 477-3187 or the Sheriff’s Office at 242-TIPS.
