Pair sought after police chase

From Staff Reports The Spokesman-Review

Stevens County deputies searched a forested area Saturday for two people who led deputies on a chase in a car stolen from Spokane and then ran when the car was forced to stop.

The chase began about 4:45 p.m. after an off-duty Spokane police officer noticed the stolen 2001 Nissan Xterra in southern Stevens County, officials said. The two sped away, and the chase lasted about five miles, ending in an area off Solokar Road, officials said.

The two were seen near the intersection of Highway 395 and Roitz Road, and there was a possible sighting in a neighborhood near Jump Off Joe Lake, Stevens County sheriff’s Sgt. Dan Anderson said.

One is described as 32 years old, 6 feet 6 inches, about 190 pounds and may be carrying a gun. He has long black hair, slicked back, hazel eyes and was last seen wearing a black leather coat and blue jeans. The second person was described as 45 years old, 5 feet 11 inches and 175 pounds with hazel eyes.
