District 7 2A

Richelle Daily finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds as Medical Lake (14-8) outscored Lakeside 12-7 in the third quarter Saturday en route to a 52-46 stunner over the Eagles (15-6) at Nine Mile Falls. The Cardinals – who had lost to Lakeside twice this season by a combined 39 points – shot 14 for 29 from the free-throw line, compared to just 4 of 8 for Lakeside. Medical Lake, which also got 12 points from Caitlin Smith, will play Wednesday at 6 p.m. in a winner-to-state game against Pullman at Mead. Lakeside, which was led by the 19 points of Kelsey Stillar, will play Deer Park Tuesday at 6 p.m. in a loser-out matchup also at Mead.

1A

Jessie DePell had 16 points and seven rebounds as Freeman (19-3) earned the Northeast’s No. 1 berth to the State 1A tournament by beating Brewster 60-44 in a loser-out matchup at Brewster. Jennesa Miller added 15 points for the Scotties, while Claire Moberg finished with 10 points and seven rebounds. Kelsey Raines added eight points and seven rebounds for Freeman, which forced Brewster into 14 turnovers. Kyla Evans led Brewster with 16 points. … Jordan Harazin had nine points, seven rebounds and six steals as Colfax (20-4) earned the Caribou Trail’s No. 2 berth in the State 1A Tournament by beating Liberty Bell 45-35 in a loser-out matchup at Brewster. Lauren Mellor added six points and seven rebounds, and Elise Markley chipped in with nine points as Colfax totaled 17 steals. Kimber Taylor had 12 points for Liberty Bell.

3A

Ellensburg held off Prosser 60-50 in a winner-to-state, loser-out game at Cheney High School to earn the Eastern Regional’s No. 3 seed to the State 3A tournament.

District 9 B

Natalie Barker had 13 points and a game-high eight rebounds, and Caitlin Dunham’s potential game-winning 3-pointer missed with 3 seconds left as Dayton earned the Southeast’s final spot to the State B tournament – and its first state berth since 1989 – by beating Liberty Christian 47-45 in a loser-out game at Washington State. Camille Weatherill added 10 points and four rebounds, and Stephanie Turner had 10 points and seven rebounds for Dayton. Rachel Roberts had 14 points and three blocks for Liberty Christian.

Boys

1A

Brian Danaher had a double-double – 10 points and 12 rebounds – as Colfax (19-4) earned the Northeast’s No. 1 seed to the State 1A tournament by beating Oroville 47-41 in a loser-out matchup at Brewster. Danaher led four Bulldogs in double figures, as Adam Bruya had 11 points, Ben Aune 10 (all in the second half) and Mathew Johnson 10. … Michael Wittwer had a three-point play with 57 seconds left as Freeman (14-10) held on to beat Lake Roosevelt 44-40 in a loser-out matchup and earn the Caribou Trail’s No. 2 seed to the State 1A tournament. Luke Heinen, who had a game-high 19 points and added nine rebounds, then made the front end of a one-and-one with .7 seconds remaining to ensure the victory. Wittwer finished with 10 points for Freeman, which outrebounded Lake Roosevelt 39-29. Jonathan St. Pierre had 10 points for Lake Roosevelt.

3A

Ellensburg held on to beat West Valley (Yakima) 48-40 in a winner-to-state, loser-out matchup at Cheney High School to earn the Eastern Regional’s No. 3 seed to the State 3A Tournament.

4A

The Big Nine Conference district tournament ended Saturday night, setting the stage for Tuesday’s opening round of the ConAgra Foods/LambWeston Eastern Regional at home sites.

In boys action, Eisenhower (21-2) knocked off Richland (16-7) 69-61 to win the Big Nine district title. In the 3-4 game, Southridge (18-5) disposed of Davis (14-10) 71-58.

Tuesday night, top GSL seed Central Valley (18-5) will host Davis at 7, while Mt. Spokane (13-10), the second seed, hosts Southridge at the same time. No. 4 Ferris (20-3) will travel to Yakima to face Ike at 7:30, and third-seeded Gonzaga Prep (18-4) heads to Richland, also for a 7:30 p.m. game.

In girls action, Eisenhower (22-0) routed Richland (16-7) 73-43 in the championship contest, while Walla Walla (16-7) edged Pasco (13-9) 47-43 for third.

Tuesday, University (19-3), the GSL’s top seed, will host Pasco, while second-seeded Lewis and Clark (20-3) hosts Walla Walla, both at 7 p.m. G-Prep (19-3) and Central Valley (14-9) will play opening games of doubleheaders at 5:45. Third-seeded G-Prep will be at Richland and No. 4 CV at Eisenhower.
