Weber fires former UI coach Cravens
Former University of Idaho men’s basketball coach Joe Cravens was fired Monday by Weber State two days after the Wildcats ended a second straight losing season with a fourth straight loss and failed to qualify for the Big Sky Conference tournament for the first time since 1981.
Cravens, who coached at Idaho three seasons (1993-96), has two years left on his contract and will be reassigned within the department, Weber athletic director Jerry Graybeal said in a statement.
In 2002-03, Cravens led Weber to a Big Sky title and NCAA Tournament berth. The school was undefeated in league play and hes was the league’s coach of the year.
In seven years at Weber, he had a 116-88 record, including 10-17 this season. He was 42-41 at Idaho.
