Around the WAC
The Vandals have slipped to No. 317 among 333 Division I teams in CollegeRPI.com. Idaho, listed at 2-9 because wins over non-Division I opponents don’t count in the RPI, are one spot below winless Morgan State (0-13). Said Idaho coach Leonard Perry: “We’re not tremendously talented offensively.”… Hawaii and Louisiana Tech, the only 2-0 WAC teams, meet tonight in Ruston, La. It’s a 4,035-mile trip for Hawaii, according to a travel Web site. Warriors guard Matt Gibson, who was suspended earlier this season, is out for the rest of the year with a staph infection. Hawaii will apply for a medical hardship waiver. … Louisiana Tech’s Paul Millsap, who had 30 rebounds in wins over Idaho and Boise State last year, is second nationally in rebounding. He led the nation in that statistic the last two years. … San Jose State doesn’t play this week. It’s another instance of quirky scheduling because of the WAC’s nine-team configuration.
