The B’s
Panorama: Three games between the five girls teams with one loss highlight this week’s basketball action. Two of those games are Saturday night, when Cusick (8-2, 4-1) visits Curlew (9-2, 6-1) in a rematch of last year’s league title game and St. George’s (8-2, 4-1) plays at Wellpinit (9-2, 5-1). Tuesday has the first of two meetings that will decide the Panorama South champion, when Cusick visits St. George’s. Inchelium (8-2, 4-1) is the only league team ranked by WashingtonPreps.com, at No. 8.
Bi-County: As the first round of league play draws to a close, Northwest Christian’s boys (9-1, 7-1) and Sprague-Harrington’s girls (10-0, 8-0) have the basketball leads. Liberty’s boys appear to be best positioned to challenge NWC. Liberty, 6-2 in league, handed the Crusaders’ their only loss. They don’t play again until the final league game.
Whitman County: Austin Cook has been on a tear over the past week for Tekoa-Oakesdale’s boys basketball team, scoring 62 points (20.7 average) in victories over Potlatch, LaCrosse-Washtucna (6-5, 2-3) and Garfield-Palouse (3-8, 2-3). Cook leads the second-place Nighthawks (7-4, 4-1) in scoring (15.9 average) and leads the WCL with a 17.0 average. T-O will make the short trip to Rosalia (5-7, 3-2) Friday night, then host Asotin (6-4, 2-3) Saturday and Freeman (7-4) in a non-league game Tuesday. Meanwhile, first-place St. John-Endicott (10-2, 5-0) has reeled off seven straight victories since its Dec. 10 loss at Colfax. The Eagles will host Colfax (9-2) Tuesday night after league games against Gar-Pal in Palouse on Friday and at Colton (1-11, 0-6) Saturday.
