Behrens leads Bonners Ferry past Spartans

Spenser Behrens had a game-high 25 points and added eight rebounds and three assists as Bonners Ferry beat Priest River 68-46 in Intermountain League boys basketball action Thursday night at Bonners Ferry.

Matt Rice added 15 points for Bonners (9-5, 3-0), while Dustin Lehman led the Spartans (7-7, 1-2).

Mike Martin had a game-high 17 points and added four steals as Clark Fork (5-7) forced 21 turnovers en route to beating Timberlake (2-9) 51-33 in a non-league game at Clark Fork.

Brandon Palaniuk (135 pounds) beat Dylan Whiting in a rematch of last year’s 125-pound state final (won by Whiting), but Skyview, sparked by seven straight wins, beat Lakeland 44-27 in a wrestling dual at Coeur d’Alene. But the day wasn’t a total loss for the Hawks, as Lakeland beat Nampa 36-25 behind three pins and a win from Kyle McCrite at 112 pounds.

Girls

Lynsie Powers scored 19 points as Timberlake (4-11) scored 17 points in the fourth quarter to earn a 37-32 non-league win over Clark Fork (3-9) at Clark Fork. Rayna Allen had seven points, seven rebounds and five steals for Clark Fork.

Washington

Luke LeCaire had a game-high 24 points as Northport’s boys basketball team hit 13 of 16 free throws in the fourth quarter en route to a 73-65 win over Kettle Falls’ JV team at Northport. Sam Burke added 22 points and Tucker Guglielmino added 15 points as Northport (3-9) outscored Kettle 23-8 in the fourth.

•Kayla McGahey, with 35.425 points, beat out Maya Morgan (34.15) to win the all-around title as University (162.9 points) won the team title over Central Valley (159.5) in a dual gymnastics meet at University High School.
