Louisiana Tech’s Haskins arrested
The Louisiana Tech men’s basketball team earned a victory over Idaho last Saturday, but that apparently didn’t make for a smooth trip home to Ruston, La.
Bulldogs senior Daevon Haskins was arrested for disorderly conduct early Sunday morning at the Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport after an altercation with at least one teammate, according to Pullman police.
Police arrived at the airport shortly after 6 a.m. There were obvious signs of a fight, such as fat lips and bruised knuckles, but Louisiana Tech coaches and players were reluctant to discuss the incident, said Pullman Police Cmdr. Chris Tennant, citing a police report.
In the meantime, Haskins returned to the lobby area and was yelling and egging on other players to fight, Tennant said. At that point, Haskins was arrested.
The team, minus Haskins and an assistant coach believed to be Lou Gudino, departed as scheduled on a Horizon flight.
Haskins later posted $250 bail, Tennant said.
“I don’t have a lot of details, but it’s my understanding (Haskins) was released and flew out the next day,” airport manager Robb Parish said.
Haskins should receive notice of a court date in the next two weeks, Tennant said.
A Louisiana Tech spokesman declined comment. Haskins started and played 29 minutes in the Bulldogs’ 65-62 win Thursday over Hawaii in Ruston.
Louisiana Tech (10-6, 3-0) is in sole possession of first place in the Western Athletic Conference.
