Othmer scores 4 in Spokane rout

Defenseman Mitch Othmer had a hat trick in the first period and finished with four goals and an assist as the Spokane Braves routed Grand Forks 10-2 in a Kootenay International Junior Hockey League game Sunday at Planet Ice.

Leif Sherman had a goal and five assists, and David Manzo added a pair of goals for the Braves (19-15-4-3; 45 points), who scored six goals in the first period on Grand Forks goaltender Steve Clark.

Cody Bender, J.C. Thomas and Sam Read also found the net for Spokane. Goaltender Jason Greenwell earned his seventh win of the season with 36 saves.

Mike Martens and Sean Roulston scored for the last-place Border Bruins (3-30-0-4; 10 points). Steve Clark had 58 saves but fell to 0-8 on the season.

The Braves sit in fourth place in the Neil Murdoch division, trailing second-place Nelson (20-15-4-3) by two points.
