Soldius1 is a new solar-powered battery charger for iPods, BlackBerrys and cell phones. It’s great at doing its thing outdoors, even on a cloudy day. But to use it indoors seems to require direct sunshine — a problem at this time of year if you don’t have a south-facing window or live in Palm Springs. Still, the Soldius1 is a great idea and works well; it could come in very handy on car trips and camping excursions. One iPod caveat: the device seems only to be compatible with the Mini, the Shuffle and the Nano.
