Houston back, UConn wins
Connecticut’s Charde Houston is finally in game shape. LSU found out the hard way.
The sophomore forward had 22 points, including the game-winning free throw with 17 seconds left, and the fifth-ranked women Huskies handed No. 3 LSU its first loss of the season, 51-48 on Monday night.
The Huskies (16-2) were playing their fifth game in 10 days, a stretch that began with an 89-80 loss at top-ranked Tennessee. But they showed no signs of fatigue, putting the Lady Tigers (14-1) on their heels early and holding them to a season-low in points.

Washington’s Burt will retire
Kayla Burt ended her college basketball career at Washington four days after her internal heart defibrillator went off during a game.
Burt, 23, had the defibrillator implanted in her chest after her heart stopped on New Year’s Eve 2002.
“The decision is a mutual agreement between myself, my family, the doctors and the University of Washington,” Burt, a senior guard, said at a news conference with coach June Daugherty and the Huskies team doctor, Dr. Kim Harmon.
