Panorama: After both teams beat Selkirk over the weekend, Republic (11-2, 9-0) heads to Curlew (11-2, 8-1) for a second meeting between the league’s top two teams. Republic blew out the Cougars in the first game, leading by 26 after three quarters on the way to a 72-55 win.

Bi-County: It’s a big weekend for the Wilbur-Creston girls (8-3, 7-2), winners of five straight, as they host undefeated Sprague-Harrington and play at second-place Liberty. With a win over Liberty, the Wildcats could move into a second-place tie, but the Lancers beat W-C 54-45 at Creston earlier this year. … Odessa’s boys (8-4, 6-4) also have some work to do to prove they belong among the Bi-Co’s top teams, hosting second-place Liberty and playing at first-place Northwest Christian over the weekend. The Tigers have been up (a one-point win at Liberty) and down (a 19-point home loss to Almira/Coulee-Hartline) so far this season.

Whitman County: The biggest game of the girls basketball season to date takes place Friday, as WCL co-leaders LaCrosse-Washtucna (10-4, 6-1) and St. John-Endicott (11-4, 6-1) meet in St. John. Also squaring off will be scoring leader Ellen Miller (18.9 points per game) of SJE and L-W’s Alyssa Koller, who holds the league’s single-game high with 37 points. Colton (10-4, 4-3) snapped SJE’s eight-game overall winning streak and established itself as a league contender with a 59-55 victory in Colton on Saturday night. The Wildcats will be tested at home Friday by third-place Tekoa-Oakesdale (9-5, 5-2), which will travel to St. John on Saturday.
