Cutting to the chase when it comes to tickets

Kevin Darst Fort Collins Coloradoan

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Dr. Steven Broman wants to see the Denver Broncos so badly Sunday, he’s willing to trade the future of your unborn children for a chance to go to the AFC championship game.

Broman, a doctor at Associates in Family Medicine in Fort Collins, Colo., is offering to trade a vasectomy, including pre- and post-operation visits and lab exams, for two tickets to the Broncos-Pittsburgh Steelers game.

Broman made the offer Tuesday on craigslist.org, joining dozens of others willing to trade services for tickets. A dentist offered to extract two wisdom teeth for tickets; others offered plumbing, painting, tree trimming and a wedding DJ. One person offered a half-carat diamond ring.

Broman said the vasectomy package – which was still on the Denver craigslist Friday – is worth $675. Based on other ticket offers on craigslist.org, Broman’s request might be enough to get a pair of upper-level tickets.

“I’d take whatever I could get,” Broman said Thursday.

Broman has two season tickets to the Broncos but is giving the tickets to his 23- and 15-year-old sons, as he did last week for the AFC divisional playoff game against the New England Patriots. Broman was at the 1998 AFC championship game when Denver beat the Jets to advance to Super Bowl XXXIII against the Falcons and called the atmosphere “electric.”

He’d like to share this weekend’s atmosphere with his sons.

“What a hoot to be able to go down with your kids and experience something like that,” Broman said.

He’s willing to trade his services but isn’t willing to pay inflated prices for a chance to see the game.

“I’d love to go, but if you can’t find seats, you can’t find seats,” Broman said. “I’m not going to pay some scalper.”

Tickets to the game have sold for as much $2,200 on StubHub.com, a Web site where people can sell their tickets. The average sale on the site has been $551.
