‘Daniel’ creator asking fans to help keep show on air
The creator of NBC’s “The Book of Daniel” is warning viewers that “bullies” at the American Family Association may succeed in their fight to kill the show unless viewers speak up.
Jack Kenny, the creative force behind the drama about an Episcopal priest and his dysfunctional family (Fridays, 10 p.m.), posted his appeal on www.blogofdaniel.com, hosted by the Episcopal Diocese of Washington.
Kenny asked fans to contact stations in support of the show and to thank a dwindling number of sponsors for their advertising.
“Ordinarily, I would never ask anyone to do this, but the AFA and bullies like them are hard at work to try and prevent you from seeing these beautiful shows, and that is censorship – pure and simple,” Kenny wrote. “And that is both un-Christian and un-American.”
ABC’s reasons why not
ABC has pulled its Monday-night duo of “Emily’s Reasons Why Not” and “Jake in Progress” – each of which has aired a total of one time this season – until further notice.
The sitcoms about attractive people (Heather Graham and John Stamos, respectively) with romance issues debuted Jan. 9 to fairly small audiences of about 6 million viewers.
“Hope & Faith” is also getting benched for the next several weeks in favor of a longer “Dancing with the Stars” results show on Friday nights.
