Eagles take over top spot with win over Tigercats

Sydney Gossard had 10 points, 10 assists and seven steals, leading St. John-Endicott to a 64-56 victory over LaCrosse-Washtucna to take sole possession of first place in the Whitman County League on Friday night in St. John.

Ellen Miller scored 21 points, and Jamie Hedlund had 12 points and nine rebounds for the Eagles (12-4, 7-1), who took over after a 31-all tie at halftime.

Karla Koller led the Tigercats (10-5, 6-2) with 21 points, and Pam Passmore added 16.

In other WCL action, Shelby Puckett scored 10 of her 12 points in the fourth quarter as Tekoa-Oakesdale rallied to a 56-44 victory over host Colton. Darcie Chappell scored 17 to lead the Nighthawks (10-5, 6-2), who outscored the Wildcats 37-16 in the second half. Sammie Druffel had 14 points and eight rebounds for Colton (10-5, 4-4).

Laura Gibson scored 24 of her 27 points in the second half to lead Deer Park (8-5, 2-3) to a 62-54 victory at Medical Lake in Great Northern League play. Richelle Daily scored 22 points to lead the Cardinals (8-4, 2-3), and Caitlin Smith added 16 points and 11 rebounds. … Jochelle Schatz had 20 points and four steals as Chewelah defeated visiting Riverside 61-37. Bryn Smith added 17 for the Cougars (9-4, 3-2), who led 32-13 at halftime. Sarah Robinson led the Rams (5-7, 1-4) with eight points. … Jamie Thornton scored 12 points as Pullman cruised to a 63-22 rout of visiting Colville. Anna Albrecht (six rebounds) and Krystal Smith (five rebounds) added 11 points apiece for the Greyhounds (10-3, 5-0), who took a 51-12 lead into the fourth quarter. Carly Gauche led the Indians (0-13, 0-6) with eight points.

Jessie DePell scored 21 points and Freeman scored 37 points off turnovers to defeat visiting Newport 60-36 in Northeast A League play. Kelsey Raines added 11 for the Scotties (12-2, 2-1), who cruised after taking a 22-point halftime lead. Maria Barranco led the Grizzlies (4-10, 1-2) with 16 points.

Natalie Deking led three players with at least 15 points as Sprague-Harrington routed Wilbur-Creston 68-30 in Bi-County League play at Wilbur. Deking scored 19 to lead the Falcons (13-0, 11-0), and Roni Jo Mielke and Stacie Shields added 15 apiece. Ashley Warnecke led the Wildcats (8-4, 7-3) with 10. … Darci Dehn scored 20 points, and Mallory Mielke had 11 points and six assists as Davenport defeated visiting Valley Christian 49-40. Stephanie Morrison pulled down 11 rebounds for the Gorillas (9-4, 7-4).
