Riverside’s Anderson twins commit to Vandals

The Spokesman-Review

Twin brothers Aaron and Adam Anderson of Riverside have orally committed to play football for the University of Idaho next season.

Aaron Anderson, a 6-foot-1, 205-pound defensive end, has earned all-state and all-Great Northern League honors during his high school career. He will likely move to linebacker for the Vandals.

Despite being hampered with ankle injuries, Adam Anderson led the Rams in rushing last season. The 5-11 1/2 , 200-pounder also played safety in passing situations, and he will likely be a fulltime safety at Idaho.

If the Andersons see playing time, they will become the first two players in Riverside school history to play NCAA Division I-A football.

Junior hockey

John Clark scored two goals apiece in the first and second periods, then added a fifth goal in the third as Spokane defeated Queen City 8-4 in a Northern Pacific Hockey League game at Eagles Ice-A-Rena.

Alex Lelwica had a goal and three assists, and Shane Davis added three assists for the Flyers, who improved to 19-18. Nick Abbott and Cody Watson also found the net for Spokane.

David Norling had 26 saves to earn his ninth win. Josh Ex was tacked with the loss for the Cutthroats (28-10), allowing two goals on five shots in the second period.
