Prosecutors won’t charge Byrd
Prosecutors have opted not to file charges against Washington State University football left tackle Bobby Byrd.
Byrd, who will be a redshirt junior this fall, was arrested in the early morning hours of Jan. 14 after police officers witnessed him pushing his girlfriend down a hallway.
But Whitman County prosecutors won’t press the charge of fourth-degree assault, citing “insufficient evidence and uncooperative parties.”
Byrd started every game in 2005 at left tackle, assuming the most prominent position on the offensive line and doing so ably. He is expected to anchor that unit this fall for the Cougars.
