Curlew trips up Inchelium behind Miller, Grumbach
Nichole Miller scored 16 points and fellow junior Amanda Grumbach added 13 as Curlew defeated Inchelium on its third try this season, beating the visiting Hornets 51-33 Friday night in a Panorama League game.
The teams were tied for first in the Panorama’s North division entering the night. Inchelium handed Curlew its only two losses of the season in early December.
April Barkley added 12 points for the Cougars (14-2, 11-1), who won their 13th straight game. Destiny Christianson scored 10 to lead the Hornets (14-3, 10-2), who had their eight-game win streak snapped.
In other Panorama League action, Wellpinit moved within a game of Curlew in the North with a 68-65 win over visiting Republic. Samantha Flett had 23 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Redskins (14-3, 10-2), and Chanel Ford added 16 points and eight assists. Sarah Knapton scored 10 of her 24 points in the fourth quarter as the Tigers (6-11, 3-8) nearly overcame a 13-point deficit. … Titi Ala scored 20 points as St. George’s edged host Springdale 42-40. Jessee Rouse added 13 for the Dragons (12-5, 8-3), who moved into a tie with Cusick for the South Division lead.
