F-150 exhaust conversion

Greg Zyla King Features Syndicate

Q: Greg, I have a 2005 Ford F-150 and am planning to install a high-performance exhaust system for both performance and looks. I’ve been told a company called CORSA makes a nice system. Can you tell me if this would be street legal? I don’t want to have a problem with passing inspection here in Pennsylvania. — George M., via e-mail

A: George, I checked with the folks at CORSA Performance Exhausts, and they told me that all their street-based exhaust systems are 50-state emissions legal. One thing you want to check, though, are your local noise ordinances, as the exhaust systems are available in varying degrees of “tuned sound” for street applications.

CORSA offers both straight-through or side-exit non-restrictive systems designed and specifically tuned for F-150 Series pickups. They increase exhaust flow 127 percent via the side system and 104 percent if you go the rear exit route. The exhausts are all “304” stainless-steel construction, crafted with pride in the USA.

This is a direct bolt-on installation, with no cutting or welding required. CORSA supplies all necessary hardware and an illustrated installation guide.

What I like about CORSA is that while the exhaust system emits a loud, throaty sound under full power, it’s barely noticeable while cruising or decelerating.
