Make treats your dog will love

The Spokesman-Review

I have a 16-year-old son, Lex, and when he brings a pack of friends home for an Xbox 360 party, they go crazy when my wife, Teresa, whips up a batch of peanut butter-chocolate chip cookies to fuel their gaming.

My wife also likes to pamper her 2-year-old Papillon/poodle/yorkie mix-breed dog named Quixote. My wife jokingly (I think) calls him, “My No. 1 son.” She loves to make little Quixote homemade cookies because she says, “I love it when my little man does that furry ballet on his back feet, with the tail helicopter rotor working for balance, and his dancing liquid eyes filled with love … for me!”

But all dog lovers can give their four-legged kids home-baked dog cookies straight from the oven. It’s simple, fast and easy to bake the new Bowie Wowie, oven-ready, refrigerated cookie dough especially formulated for dogs. It would be hard to find a doggie treat fresher than one you bake yourself as needed.

Bowie Wowie treats are prepared with absolutely no sugar, salt, fillers, artificial flavors or by-products. In four flavors – oatmeal, snickerdoodle, carob chip and peanut butter – these cookies have the look, smell and texture of human ones, but are nutritionally designed with dogs in mind. Once baked, the cookies can be stored in a sealed container for up to six months. The dough retails for about $4.95-6.95 and can be purchased in local pet stores or online at www.bowiewowie.com.

The creator of Bowie Wowie, Reneé Weigert says earnestly, “Just remember with all the unconditional love a pet provides a little fresh baked treat now and then is essential!”
