RiverHawks top Kelowna

The Spokesman-Review

Carl Uhl’s two-run single in the seventh inning was enough for the Spokane RiverHawks to hold on and defeat the Kelowna Falcons 3-1 in West Coast Collegiate League play Monday at Avista Stadium.

Chris Bozo and Greg Biagi reached base for Spokane with back-to-back singles in the seventh. Biagi finished 2 for 3 with one run scored.

Jeremy Hefner picked up the win for the RiverHawks, pitching a complete game. He struck out nine, walked five and gave up one run in the two-hitter. He also singled twice.

The RiverHawks are 18-7 and lead the WCCBL, 3 1/2 games ahead of Bend (14-10) and Wenatchee (14-10). Aloha (13-11) is 4 1/2 games back of Spokane.

The RiverHawks continue their three-game homestand against Kelowna (9-16) tonight at Avista Stadium at 6:30.
