Temperatures above 100 degrees are expected in the Spokane region this weekend, and the National Weather Service is warning residents to take precautions against the heat.

The weather service issued a hazardous weather outlook Wednesday for all of North Idaho and Eastern Washington.

Some locations could see highs of 108 degrees this weekend.

In Spokane, highs are forecast at 100 on Friday, 103 on Saturday and 104 on Sunday.

In Coeur d’Alene, highs are expected to run 2 to 3 degrees cooler each day.

Spokane last saw a high of 103 degrees on July 27, 1998.

The last time it was hotter than 103 was on Aug. 4, 1961, when the mercury hit 108, which tied the highest temperature for Spokane since record keeping began in 1881.
