Sadler will leave Yates team
Robert Yates Racing will let Elliott Sadler out of his contract at the end of the season.
It’s another blow for the Yates team, which also will lose longtime driver Dale Jarrett and sponsor UPS to Michael Waltrip’s new team at the end of the season.
“We would like to thank Elliott for his commitment to our organization over the past four seasons and for all the success we’ve enjoyed together,” team owner Robert Yates said Thursday in a statement. “We are excited about the opportunity to find a new driver who will continue the successful run of the No. 38 Ford as we maintain our focus on the future of our organization.”
Vegas to host Grand Prix
Las Vegas city officials approved a five-year deal to host a Champ Car World Series race on streets around some of the city’s oldest casinos.
The city will stage the Las Vegas Grand Prix, with the inaugural race set for April 8.
The Easter weekend event will represent the season opener for the open-wheel cars. The 2.44-mile course will start and finish on Grand Central Parkway, a sweeping curve through a vacant former railroad yard the city has been marketing for development.
Patrick vague about plans
Danica Patrick is being coy.
Despite recent speculation that she would head to NASCAR after her contract with the Rahal-Letterman IndyCar Series team is up at the end of the season, she said she’s leaning toward staying in the IndyCar Series and is “far down the line” toward getting a deal done with for next season.
