ABC adding shows dubbed in Spanish

Associated Press The Spokesman-Review

Coming soon to a small screen near you: “Desperate Housewives,” “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Lost” – in Spanish.

ABC is expanding its number of programs dubbed in Spanish, including those hits along with “Dancing With the Stars,” “George Lopez” and the new Latino comedy “Ugly Betty.”

The rest of the network’s regular prime-time entertainment lineup will be available with Spanish language subtitles. Select specials also will be dubbed.

Spanish subtitled versions of the shows will be found on Closed Caption 2 (CC2). Viewers will be able to access the Spanish-dubbed programs via the SAP – secondary audio program – option on their televisions.

NBC on DVD

NBC will let Netflix subscribers take sneak peeks at two new fall series before the shows air on the network.

Subscribers of the online movie rental service will be able to rent DVDs with the debut episodes of “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip” and “Kidnapped” starting Aug. 5, about six weeks before the shows premiere on television.

NBC, fourth in the prime-time ratings last season, is hoping the arrangement will generate word-of-mouth buzz for the new shows.

Action serial “Kidnapped” follows a single case all season. “Studio 60” goes behind the scenes of a fictional comedy show similar to “Saturday Night Live.”
