Josephine Keefe awarded theater scholarship
Josephine Keefe was recently awarded the Merle Reskin Endowed Scholarship by the DePaul University Theatre School in Chicago. The scholarship is given annually to a third-year student who has been judged by the faculty to be exemplary. Keefe is a 2003 graduate of Gonzaga Prep.
•Jeffrey Savage, assistant professor in the Washington State University School of Music and Theatre Arts, was named the winner in the piano division at the recent Ladies Musical Club of Seattle competition. This year’s competition included more than 50 entries in piano, wind, string and voice categories. Winners in each category were selected following live performances. Savage will take part in a concert tour featuring all the winners in the fall.
•Army Pfc. Justin Sherman recently graduated from basic training at Fort Knox, Ky. Sherman, a 2000 graduate of Mead High School, is the son of Richard Sherman of Spokane.
•Several Eastern Washington residents recently graduated from Montana State University. Students are listed by their hometown.

•Stephen Shogan recently graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in architecture from a joint degree program offered by the University of San Francisco and California College of the Arts. Shogan, a 2001 graduate of Gonzaga Prep, is the son of Joe and Maureen Shogan.
•Allyson Turner of Spokane was recently named to the spring 2006 dean’s list at Baylor University in Texas. A student must hold a grade-point average of 3.7 or better to be named to the list.
Idaho
•Kelsey Bonds recently received a $500 scholarship from the 2006 Tomorrow’s Business Professional Scholarship Program. Bonds, a graduate of St. Maries High School, plans to attend the University of Idaho.
•Dean Edwards, professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Idaho was recently given the UI Excellence in Research Award. Edwards, also director of the Center for Intelligent Systems Research, is studying autonomous vehicles and battery technology.
•Jeffrey Young, professor of electrical and computer engineering at the University of Idaho, was recently selected as the associate project director for the Department of Defense Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research in Idaho, a federal-state partnership. The program works to enhance science and engineering research, education and technology capabilities.
